The Promise of Power
Welcome to the first message in our new sermon series, **“The Book of Acts.”**
In Week 1, **“The Promise of Power,”** we begin in **Acts 1:1–11**, where Jesus prepares His disciples for the mission ahead. They were ready to move, ready to preach, and ready to change the world — but Jesus told them to wait.
Why?
Because God’s assignment requires God’s power.
Many believers today are trying to do God’s work without God’s power. But Jesus made it clear: the mission of the Church cannot be fulfilled through talent, willpower, programs, or information alone. We need the power of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 1:8 reminds us:
**“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses…”**
This message challenges us to remember that the mission is bigger than us. We are called to reach the lost, restore the broken, make disciples, and love like Jesus — but we cannot do it in our own strength.
The same Spirit that empowered Peter, launched the early Church, and moved the Gospel from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth is still available to us today.
The story of Acts is not over.
We are part of the next chapter.
**Same Spirit. Same Gospel. Same Mission. Same Jesus.**
Let’s be the Church on fire.
